My Polybloodymyofrigginsitis Diary

I'll never take being able to skate and play hockey for granted again.

I think I would be devastated if I were to become bed ridden with some rare disease, not being able to move my limbs, not knowing if I would ever get better.  Which is pretty much what happened to my friend. And we're talking about a major sports freak here, track and field athlete, shin bashing field hockey player when we were in school.

When she told me she was in hospital because of something called Polymyositis, I really didn't expect to see her so weak in bed not able to move much at all. But man, she is one tough cookie! After months of physiotherapy and staying at the rehab place, I'm so happy to see on her blog that she's finally out of there and able to walk a wheelchair!

It takes hell of a lot of mental strength to get through an illness like this and she's taking it (and blogging about it and her handbiking gangsta friends) with good humour.

Hey Karen! We'll go skating when you get well, and I know you "bloodyfrigging" will!
